Pros
If your job allows for travel between offices, that is fun. Good benefits package.
Cons
This is a tough industry that is consolidating, and Abrdn has no competitive advantage to keep from being squeezed. The merger between Aberdeen and Standard Life was a disaster that missed its KPIs of taking the company to a $1T AUM company and caused such internal chaos that performance went down and turnover exploded. There are earnest, hardworking people here, but management has no strategy other than to squeeze out free cash flow for as long as they can and then perhaps sell themselves to someone who wants to reach $1T in AUMs. In the meantime, countless rounds of job cuts, staganant wages, and bonus cancellations have made employees apathetic and anxious. The company has had no loyalty to those who have tried to build a culture by going the extra mile by doing (unpaid) work on DEI, additional training, brainstorming on new products, mentoring, etc, so it creates less incentive to do anything but the bread and butter of your job. Behind the curve on technology. Rebranding to Abrdn was a laughing stock. Old boys club. No career opportunity upward internally Below the average payscale in the U.S.
