I applied online for the Associate Software Engineer position at AlphaSights online. I got a call a few weeks later from an HR representative and she went over details about the company and what the interview process would look like. She scheduled a technical video interview for a few weeks later.
The interview was on Google Hangouts and after going over details on my resume, the interviewer asked to share my screen to solve the technical problem. The technical problem was ridiculous in it's scope and difficulty. It could've been a do-able problem but he only gave 20 minutes to solve it. The problem I entered below was exactly how it was presented to me. He asked me to read the problem and start typing a solution in my text editor. To make matters worse, as I was trying to solve the problem, I could hear the interviewer snoring. He was actually sleeping. It appeared that he woke himself up as I was typing my solution and ended the interview.
The phone screen/HR portion of this process was smooth and professional. The technical portion was juvenile and degrading.
