Question 1
The team seemed totally out of touch with industry practices having been working as academics all their life. What practical skills are they going to teach the students at this applied education institution?
A one hour interview with two deans and two professors, a 15 minute teaching lesson and afterward the forwarding of extensive documentation of upward of 15 documents. I rejected the “offer” as initially was told I was the role would commence in fall 2026 and after providing extensive and repetitive documentation in addition to approval after approval after approval from various departments, I was then asked again to update an online profile with all of the same information, and told that id been successfully added to a shortlist of pooled applicants and id be let known when “someone picked me”. Word of advice - when you have the opportunity to secure highly qualified highly educated academics with extensive research experience and skills who have worked at some of t the top academic institutions in the world , don’t change the terms and conditions of the offer from a fall start date to “you’ve been added to a pool of applicants and we’ll pick you when and if it suits us”. It’s not a cattle market. Particularly bewildering considering the majority of current staff don’t even have PhDs and only bachelors degrees with no academic experience whatsoever.
