I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lakanto (Orem, UT) in Jun 2024
Interview
Phone screening, 15 minutes. A week later, in person with Director of Marketing. Another week later, in person interview with HR Director and VP. Used language like I was going to be hired for the job..."you'll sit here, here's the team, here's the CEO etc". I was surprised to find out via email after waiting another 2 weeks that they were going in a different direction.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
tell us about a favorite campaign?
are you good with budgets?
I applied and got an email just a few days later. They wanted to do an introductory call with HR. I scheduled the next available call. 4 minutes before the call, I got a text from HR asking if they could reschedule in two days. Within 60 seconds, I replied, "Yes! What time works best for you?"
I was ghosted. No reply. So a few days later, I clicked the link and scheduled another call. No text, no warning, they called right on time. The girl didn't seem too excited. She didn't seem to really care, and it sounded like she was reading a script.
After an intro, she asked me two interview questions. Keep in mind, this is for a marketing manager position. Question 1: "How do you know if a campaign is successful?" Ummm.... If the numbers show it? What kind of question is that? If you make money and engagement goes up, it was successful. It seemed like she wanted me to guess the answer in her head.
Question 2: "How would you choose between launching a new product and marketing an existing product?" Again, what is this question?? If you want to launch a new product, do it. Keep marketing your current products. Such strange questions.
I asked at the end, "Is there anything that would keep you from inviting me to the next round of interviews that I could address?" She said no. There was nothing that would keep them from sending me to the next round. She said she would message me tomorrow to set up my next interview.
I sent a thank you message and was ghosted. Again. No response. No second interview. I got an email over a week later saying they hired someone else.
SO unprofessional. Really rude. Don't recommend.
