I applied online for a project designer (engineer-in-training) position at Wood, Patel & Associates in hopes of finding a full time job upon graduation in summer 2020. Human Resources contacted me within days of applying which was very impressive. The initial interview was via phone call with the Human Resources representative and consisted of very high level questions to see if my personality and experience would be a good fit with the company’s culture (committed, hardworking, personable). My information was then moved up the ladder and a webcam interview was scheduled with the site development department head and the HR manager. This interview dove deeper into my knowledge and skill set from schooling and previous jobs to get a better understanding of how much training was needed when I start. I was given an offer after the interview but did not accept right away due to additional interviews I had upcoming with other companies. No pressure was forced upon me about time frame to make a decision. Instead, they offered for me to come by the office to meet the staff and see where I could potentially be working, as well as giving me the opportunity to ask any additional questions to ensure I was making the best decision for myself. This is a true testament to the values Wood Patel has as a company and hiring personable employees. It felt like the company was trying to sell themselves to get me to come and work for them, instead of me trying to sell myself to the company that I should work for them. This is what made Wood Patel stand out compared to other company’s by going above and beyond to make me a part of the team.
I have been with the company for 7 months now and have experienced firsthand the culture that was talked about during the interview. It is nice to having past work experience but it is not necessary. Wood Patel is focused on finding genuine, hardworking employees to hire and with the immense amount of knowledge in the office, they will be able to train and mentor to enhance your professional growth.
