Pros
Lots of opportunity to create industry connections, once you get on a project...
Cons
Extremely challenging to get onto a project, if you applied to get the job, be prepared to apply for dozens of project roles and not hear back from 95% of them. My (mid-market consulting) company was acquired by Accenture, there was zero incentive to stay, I was offered a 2% raise, which was meant to cover a year of merit, and a title change. However, many positions within upper management/consulting were offered 3-year retention bonus plans, paying out tens of thousands per year to stay with Accenture. Very unfortunate, I was looking forward to opportunity within Accenture, but have gotten minimal out of the company. Upon acquisition, we were informed that the decision was either sell or layoffs, and now a year and a half in, we sold, and have had layoffs anyway since our previous selling structure does not align with Accenture's structure. Our selling cycle has turned into the following. We pitch to a (mid-market) client, client says "too expensive", Accenture says we can lower our margin to get our foot in the door, we oversell our ability, staff accenture consultants and we lose money, Accenture takes the contract and the relationship. Now we need to pitch to a new client... the cycle continues.
