As an employee, if you know what management wants from you and you intentionally exceed those expectations you will have a lot of growth opportunities.

Part of exceeding those expectations is often carrying the workload of other people on your team. This can result in easy burnout over time and also leads to management becoming out of touch with the stressors their high performers are under.
