Pros

WinCo is a great company to work for. The leadership of the company is really focused on the long term success of the company and not just short term results as they are all owners but that ownership they will benefit from when they retire (unlike a public company when they could just sell their ownership any time they want). So it has them focused on the long game - which benefits all employees since everyone has the ability to be owners - without putting any of your own money in as they give it to you. People are supportive of each other and leadership generally listens to feedback and is open to hearing from employees.

Cons

There is some high church in the first year like any retailer but retention of employees who stay at least a couple years is really high. This can mean that there is less chance for advancement sometimes though because there are only so many openings as you move up and people are not leaving them through turnover very often. But some areas (like store operations) have more opportunities than others (like corporate functions).

Pros

I like some of my coworkers and sometimes the customers are nice

Cons

The pay is a joke, I don't even make enough to afford the provided health insurance. The holiday bonus is a store gift card. It's insulting. My schedule is so inconsistent that I can never predict my hours and I never work the same hours each day. Once you use your sick hours, you don't get any until the next anniversary of your hiring date. This means that you have to go to work sick or you will get attendance points. They schedule cashiers so thin that if one person calls out, the entire day is horrible and stressful. The whole "employee owned" thing is just a way to keep us from joining a union. I have never had any voice or power in my contract. They only give you the minimum breaks legally required, I have to ask to use the bathroom like I'm in grade school. My multiple requests to change departments have been ignored. It feels like upper management is actively sabotaging us. Once top of everything, my gender identity is ignored by at least half of my superiors, my deadname is publicly displayed on the schedule, and I was asked to remove my pronoun pins when corporate visits.
