      Best people - Competitive Pay - No Easy Button

      Pros

      1. Telecom is an industry that will never go away. 2. I work with seriously amazing people. There are no easy jobs here. 3. Work life balance has high availability here, but it all depends on your ability to get stuff done. 4. I've had 3 pay promotions and 5 title promotions in 3 years. 5. We may be the result of M&A across western Telcos but our direction as Lumen is very far away from VOICE and NETWROK. Edge compute, Cyber Security, and tailored managed services is our key product set. Owning the assets these products run is what will make us leaders on wall street and main street.

      Cons

      1. We're working hard to wrap up our M&A activity. With that comes infinite changes to process, tools, and support. Feels like every day I have to re-learn how to get things done. 2. There are no easy jobs at Lumen. A lot of attrition but it is getting better. Not enough IT professionals in the world to support our operations so we do get talent from other industries who often dont stick around. There's no fix for this from my point of view. Maybe partnering with university systems to push more people towards an IT career - not sure.

      Great place to work, only if you start off at a good salary.

      Pros

      - Work with great people. - Very technically capable management. - Huge technical environment. (50k+ servers across the globe) - Lots of different technologies in use. - Reasonable work hours. Good amount of PTO and daily lunch break. - No on call. - The company promotes from within at a rapid pace.

      Cons

      - The company works to take away perks of working there, in efforts to save money. - The company also ignores known areas of huge and unneeded monetary loss. - The company does not pay fairly when promoting from within. I mean up to ~$20k/yr below external hire. - The workload to staffing ratio is in no way reasonable. - The custom internal tools are extremely outdated. - Hot, new technologies take forever to be implemented, if ever. - The company preaches customer experience, yet focuses on the numbers game. - Lots of tribal knowledge that's not documented.

      Pros

      - Great exposure to the overall technology landscape - New Leadership is improving the culture - Tons of free resources to help you prep for countless certs. (CompTIA, Cisco, PMP, etc...) - Will also pay for your MBA

      Cons

      - Individual contributors are held to unrealistic expectations. - KPI overload. There were over 12 KPI's we were held to before I left - You will not get a raise unless you go to COE - Systems and processes are a mess - The divestitures cost Lumen their key differentiator, the size of their network compared to competitors. - From a product front, Lumen always seems to be one step behind - New installs are seldom on-time or billed correctly. Yes, it will take a month to correct
